Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's own bamboo ensemble - Kinabalu Merdu Sound - captivated the audience at the JATA World Travel Fair 2008 in Tokyo, Japan recently.

The performance in Japan was their first outside Malaysia and aroused much interest from visitors to the fair.

The Kundasang-based ensemble was part of Sabah Tourism Board's delegation to the event, which is Asia's largest travel fair. Ten tour agents, hoteliers from Sabah also took part in the fair.

The total of Japanese visitors to Sabah last year totalled 32,387, while so far this year, the State has recorded 24,619 visitors from the country. STB also participated in the Malaysia My second Home (MM2H) seminar held in Nagoya and Osaka where over 1,000 people attended.
