Hyderabad, Aug 19 Tourism Malaysia will have a focused approach to attract Indian citizens for the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, Malaysian Tourism Minister Ng Yen Yen said here today.

MM2H, which encourages long stay in Malaysia, has so far 12,000 participants from countries like the UK and China among others, with participation of 551 Indians between 2002-2009, which Yen said was not a small number.

Yen, who is in Hyderabad as part of a visit to five Indian cities for promotion of Malaysian tourism, said "we have to further promote it. We will be doing it (MM2H) in a more focused way for India," she said.

To a query, Yen said Malaysia has H1N1 flu, but effective measures were in place to tackle it. "We have set up Emergency Crisis Management Committee and regularly monitoring the situation. Malaysia has H1N1, but, we take quick measures to tackle it," she said.

So far there's no impact on tourists arrival, infact, there is an increase in short haul travel in the month of July by 3.9 per cent, she added.

Tourism Malaysia has set a target to attract six lakh Indian tourists to visit their country this year from 5,50,738 in 2008 and has plans to increasing flight services from India, said Director General Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg.

Later the Tourism Minister launched the "One Malaysia, Endless Experiences" marketing campaign to offer composite Malaysian holiday experience to Indian travellers.
