Truly Asia. That’s what Malaysia calls itself in its tourism propaganda. And to bring to light the cultural melting pot the country houses, Tourism Malaysia marked its presence with a food and cultural show at Courtyard by Marriot. It also kick started the Malaysian food festival at Paprika that is to be held till November 23. “It’s a great country to visit,” said Noor Arif Mohd. Noor is Director, Tourism Malaysia. “One thing about the place is that you get to see a slice-of-life of Asia as such,” he added. The tourism board has come up with exciting features for tourists and others who intend to call the country their new home. The Malaysia My Second Home programme allows citizens of other nationalities to retire and settle in Malaysia with their spouses and children. “As a part of the government we can’t do business directly. So destination promotion is what we engage in.. But we work in close association with travel agencies,” explained Noor as a myriad of ethnic dancers graced the stage in colourful costumes. According to Noor, India is not the worst hit economy in the world and people are still on a traveling spree. “Malaysia is not an expensive place to visit,” he rightly pointed out, adding that the best time to visit would be from mid April to June, when the summer holiday sets in India.
