Tourism Malaysia to promote new products in India Print

In order to attract more visitors to Malaysia from India and across the world, Tourism Malaysia will highlight a series of new tourism products. Theme parks, gardens, flora and fauna, home stays, Malaysia My Second Home, new hotels and destinations beyond Kuala Lumpur are likely to be highlighted.

Currently, there are around 600 home stays in Malaysia. For home stays, Tourism Malaysia plans to target the student community from India. The home stays are located in Bang Kuras, Kampong Swarano and Selanghur etc. The tariff of home stay is USD 20 per person, per day. Besides, there are plans to set up vegetarian restaurants in order to attract more tourists from India. This information was provided by Dato Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg, Director General, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board.

As part of its marketing strategy, Tourism Malaysia will be launching Malaysia Campaign in India in July 2010. The campaign will offer all-inclusive packages that include accommodation, tickets and tour services etc. Besides, it will organise regular sales mission in Tier-I and Tier II cities, FAM tours and travel trade fairs in India. “Last year, Malaysia has received 6, 50,000 tourists from India which is an eight per cent increase compared to 2008. By 2014, it expects a total of one million tourists from India,” added Beg.
