PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysia My Second Home programme, which is to attract long-stay tourists, should shift its focus to an investment perspective.

Pemudah, he task force set up in 2007 to facilitate business, will be working closely with the tourism and home ministries to push this drive.

Pemudah said in its 2008 annual report that several steps would be taken, including the review of immigration laws, terms of employment and investment.

To enhance competitiveness of the capital market to face the global financial crisis, Pemudah said the government had reviewed the Bumiputera equity requirement for initial public offerings.

The report also stated Pemudah would work with public and private bodies to improve taxi services as this was the first point of contact for visitors to Malaysia, including businessmen.
